Event Rules & Safety

In true E.R. Evans fashion, this event is about good sportsmanship, safety, and respect for one another in the field. Please review the following before the hunt:

  • Eye and ear protection are highly recommended.

  • Blaze orange (hat or vest) is required.

  • No larger shot than #6; #5 or smaller is preferred.

  • Only move stations when signaled — please pick up shells and leave birds at your station before rotating.

  • Always be aware of your surroundings and your fellow shooters. Know where your barrel is pointed at all times.

  • If shooting with a partner or group, discuss your plan for incoming birds — whether to take turns, or one shoots left and one shoots right.

  • Do not shoot at low-flying birds or toward adjacent stations.

  • Downed birds should be picked up after the round. Dogs will be scattered throughout the field to help with retrieves.

  • Money Birds: Three “money birds” will be released during the shoot — each worth $250. They’ll be announced at release and marked with a ribbon tied to the leg.

The goal of the day is simple: enjoy good company, honor E.R.’s memory, and keep the tradition of safe, respectful hunting alive.
